Duman Chippy is the fish and chip shop and takeaway at 38 Westside Plaza, in the heart of Wester Hailes, Edinburgh. It is a single counter doing the full chip-shop songbook: haddock in fresh batter, chips peeled and cut on site, smoked sausage and king rib, alongside Turkish kebabs carved off the spit, stone-baked pizzas from seven to sixteen inches, burgers, baked potatoes and pasta.
Everything is fried or grilled to order, every day from 9am until 2am. Orders come in over the counter, through the menu on this website or by phone; we ring back to confirm every one, and payment is cash at the door or on collection — no card machine, no surprises.
The record
In 2025, Mealzo named this branch Best Fish & Chips Takeaway at its annual awards. The kebabs have silverware of their own: the business was named Best Kebab in Scotland at the British Kebab Awards in both 2015 and 2018, chosen from more than 2,000 nominees around the country.
